Autumn 2018 |
Well, Finally the heat is mostly gone, and now we enter into one of the great weather times in Japan...Spring being the other of not too cold, not too hot.
Next month, November 8-11 is the Ogikubo Music Festival. I just got the concert guide and am now looking to see which concerts I would like to go to. I see that there will be a small live concert on the 5th floor of Lumine.... I guess the dinners will be happy about that.
When I fist came to Ogikubo, there were amateur musicians playing outside near the west JR exit. Too bad they don't have that any more.
About music: When I am at my mother's house I listen to a great radio station while driving. They play all sorts of music that I do not know, even some lesser known cello concertos. And with out any commercial interruptions! When I lived in California, it seemed that there were 15 minutes of commercials every hour. I used to listen to my mother's radio station via internet, but somehow my computer seemed to crash a lot.... Too bad.
If anyone knows a good station for classical music in Tokyo, please let me know.
Recently, it seems that I have been going through phases in my music listening. For months, I listened to Sibelius symphonies and orchestral music almost daily. Then Rachmaninoff, this month seems to be all the Brahms chamber music. Other times it is the Bach solo suites. Yes, I also listen to other music during these phases, but it seems I always come back to the same composer often.
(I love my Bose "Comfort 35" headphones Best things I ever bought. Especially while on a plane to the USA or back! And when I like to listen to my symphonies LOUD!)
My other music is about the same. Jazz I do like softer types. Four Play, European Jazz Trio, Eddie Higgens, Ron Carter to name a few.
And every once in a while, time for good ol' Rock-n-Roll! But mostly from the 70's and 80's, with the exception of Seal, U2, and Sting.
Enough for now,
Happy practicing!
